Kelly Stevens, LMFT

During my time as an intern and now as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have been exposed to a wide range of clientele and have come to realize my areas of expertise and my enthusiasm when working with clients therapeutically. My clinical experience includes eating disorders treatment facility, where I worked with adolescents and adults suffering from eating disorders and their families. During this time, I co-facilitated group therapy, conducted individual and family sessions, and worked with a multi-disciplinary team including dieticians, and other prominent psychotherapists.

After gaining experience in this intensive outpatient setting, I transitioned and began working at a non-profit agency concentrating primarily with adolescents. Programs were developed within the non-profit agency, allowing me to work with adults. This enabled my ability to continue working with clients who had eating disorders, among other mental health issues. My experience includes working with cases involving severe trauma, addictions, family conflict, depression, anxiety, as well as other mood disorders. These experiences have cultivated my ability to remain calm and objective during periods of extreme stress for individuals and their families, while also gaining invaluable experience working with a wide array of cultures within the Jacksonville community.

After working as a psychotherapist with a non-profit agency, my colleagues and I decided to open our own practice near the River City Marketplace off US 17. In all of these settings throughout my career, I am excited to have been afforded this great opportunity to serve the Northern Jacksonville Community at Discovery Counseling Services LLC.
